Kruger National Park is one of the largest game reserves in the world. It straddles the eastern regions of the Limpopo and Mpumalanga provinces in South Africa covering an area of almost 20 000 km². Together with the Gonarezhou National park in Zimbabwe and the Limpopo National Park in Mozambique, the Kruger makes up the massive Great Limpopo Transfrontier Peace Park.
Within its massive area, the Kruger National Park is divided into six distinct eco-systems including baobab sandveld, mopane scrub, lebombo knobthorn-marula bushveld, mixed acacia thicket, Combretum-silver clusterleaf woodland and riverine forest. Throughout these eco-systems visitors can spot 517 different bird species, 114 different reptile species and 147 mammals – including the famous Big Five.
Kruger offers accommodation for visitors. It has 21 rest camps scattered along its 360 km length that offer simple, but comfortable accommodation. There are also seven private lodge concessions and 11 private safari lodges that offer more luxurious accommodation.
